Well...it is official...no more babies reside in the Sims home! Our little Camden turned 1 yesterday! We celebrated with a party at Gymboree Play and Music...it was so much fun!! Camden had a blast and she LOVED eating her cake!! The past year has been a whirlwind! Here are some of Camden's accomplishments at the 1-year mark:

- WALK! She actually started full-on walking about 4 weeks ago, but she took her first step at 10 months!!

- She can say "Da-da" (over and over and over!), "Ma-ma", "Ba-ba", and "HEY"!

- She has 10 teeth!!

- She can play with big-bro in the play room, without Mommy worrying the whole time what she might be getting in to!

- She is FINALLY sleeping through the night consistently! (I hope I didn't just jinx it!)

We have her 1-year-old check-up with the pediatrician on Friday, so I will have her stats to share later!

I know this is a bit late in getting posted, but I wanted to share with all of you the great news of Camden's baptism on the 12th! We were so excited to share this special day with lots of family and friends...especially since our niece Lillian, and good friend's daughter Scarlett were also baptized with Camden! It was a beautiful ceremony and we are so excited to watch Camden begin her faith journey!

So...we've been MIA since July, I realized! Things have been crazy and unfortunately, I have not made use of my camera lately because I have lost the charger and need to give up and buy a new one!! So frustrating!

We've had a lot of new things happen since July...I am now a working Mommy! I got a job at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA where I work in the ER as a Nurse Tech. I am getting a lot of hands-on experience that will help me as I work to become an RN. I re-applied to the Nursing program and will hopefully find out if I am in within the next month or so...fingers crossed!!! It has been quite an adjustment for the whole family since I am not at home everyday now...I usually work 3 12-hour shifts per week. I like the "me time" but it is hard being away from the kids and even harder bouncing back after a long day at work and then gearing up for the Mommy role soon after!

Carson is now 3!! It is so amazing to think of how much he has grown and what a handsome, smart, funny little man he is! We are so proud of him!! He started in the 2-year-old program at the end of August, and while the first week was rough (on him and on Mommy...sigh!) he has adjusted SO well and LOVES to go to school!! He loves his teachers and I love that he is learning so much and having fun with other kids his age!!

Camden is growing like a weed...she's almost 9 months old!! We've had to make a couple trips to the doctor for her recently due to colds and ear infections...no fun! She has been deemed as a "big girl" by the pediatrician because as of this week, she weighs in at 20 lbs! She is still so smiley and has the best personality! She is completely on the move crawling everywhere! She can also pull herself up to stand and is quite gutsy about it...we really think she will be walking early because she loves checking everything out!!

Camden is growing so fast! We went to her 6-month well check today and the Nurse Practitioner says she is a healthy, beautiful baby!! She weighs 16 lbs, 15 oz and is 26 inches tall! Her weight puts her in the 75th percentile and her height puts her in the 60th percentile for her age! She had 3 shots, tolerated them well and she left sporting 3 shiny "bling" bandaids...very appropriate for our princess!! She already has 2 teeth on the bottom and the NP says there are 4 more coming through on the top and 2 more coming through on the bottom any day now!! CRAZY!!!

Camden is growing like a weed and is now eating big-girl food!! We went to her 4-month well check on Monday and she got another round of shots...no fun, it still breaks my heart each time even though I know she won't remember it! Camden now weighs 14 lbs, 9 oz (75%), is 23.5" long (25%) and her head is 44 cm around (95%)! So...she is short and chubby with a big head!! We just love her SO much!! She is a really good baby and her disposition is SO sweet! She is one of the smiliest babies I have ever seen! She now has 2 teeth peeking through her bottom gum and overall she hasn't been bothered much by teething!

Given the GO by the Dr. on Monday, we started her on rice cereal and veggies. We did green beans first and she did okay...she loves to put her hands in her mouth in between bites and she gets to smiling so much that a lot of the food doesn't stay in her mouth...but she is getting the hang of it! After 3 days of green beans we moved on to sweet potatoes...she LOVED them!!

Unfortunately, Camden has been sick for a few weeks now. She is really congested and the drainage seems to really be upsetting her stomach as well. There really isn't much we can do for her since she is so young...so we use a humidifier in her room at night and we have to do "steam baths" often as well to break up the crud in her chest. We feel so bad for her but it only seems to bother her a little...like I said before, she has the best disposition!!!

Carson is doing great as well...he is learning so much these days! It amazes us the things he remembers! He is also doing a lot better about social things...like going to the nursery at church. He always cried when we would leave him, but now he has made some friends and he does great! We are so relieved because he will start 2 year old pre K in the Fall and we don't want it to be hard for him to adjust!! He is also really great with Camden...he likes to check on her if I am busy doing something and he always tells me if she is crying...sometimes he actually hears her before I do!! He really is a great big brother!

Four great Moms on Mother's Day!

We started off Mother's Day with brunch at One Midtown Kitchen with the Stewart gang! It was wonderful celebrating my awesome Mom! After brunch we headed to the Sims house to celebrate my wonderful Mother-in-law! The kids got to play in the pool and the ladies got to hang out on the porch and chat...it was great!

I cannot believe I am a Mommy of two beautiful children! It is such a blessing and I love them more than I could have ever imagined! There is a lot going on in my life right now and I am comforted by the smiles on my kids faces...regardless of how other things turn out, I am so grateful for their unconditional love!

We had a fabulous weekend! Camden was dedicated at church today! We are so proud and cannot wait to teach her about God and guide her in knowing a Christian life. It was a beautiful service and we were so blessed to spend it with family and friends!!! Unfortunately, although I was good in remembering my camera, but we didn't get all the pictures we had hoped to get! ARGH!! Thanks to everyone who shared this special day with us!

Oh...also, we are happy to announce that we finally asked Aunt Elizabeth to be Camden's godmother! Uncle B also agreed to be her godfather! Camden is so blessed to have such wonderful role models and a loving family!!!

Yes, we have been CRAZY busy lately!! I started nursing clinicals on March 28 at Floyd Medical Center and the 2 late nights a week are pretty intense!! The kids have been spending A LOT of time with Nanie and Pawpaw (God bless them!) because my clinicals are on Monday and Tuesday afternoons/nights...late nights out and having to get up with my little lady would make for a cranky Mommy...I am SO thankful for all the help!! The semester is almost over though...2 more weeks of clinicals, then my final exam on May 3 and hopefully I can relax for 2 weeks before the summer semester begins!!

So...I have been asked by multiple people to post pictures of the kids. I have been so bad about taking pictures since Camden has been born. I hear that is what happens when you have 2 kids, but I swore that wouldn't be me...oops!! Anyway, that is basically the purpose of this blog...so I hope everyone enjoys the new-ish pictures I posted!!

So, we've been pretty busy lately, and things don't look like they will calm down anytime soon! We had spring break last week, so I took the kids to Charlotte with Mom to visit Nanny and Poppop! Since Nanny isn't doing so great these days, we wanted to spend some time with them and help out...plus I really wanted them to meet Camden! Carson had a blast and really became attached to his Great Nanny and Poppop...he especially loved Poppop's train board!! Nanny is doing better and even though she is on oxygen 24/7, she is a trooper and has more energy now to move around the house and even cook some...which we loved!!!

I was so excited to get pictures of the kids with Nanny and Poppop, and one afternoon I whipped out my camera and though I would start by taking a few shots of Camden (who has become SO smiley lately!!). Well...wouldn't you know my luck...my camera battery died and guess what I conveniently left at home!!! My charger of course!! I was SO bummed! Needless to say, I didn't get any of the pictures I wanted to get!

A Wedding AND A Baby!!

January 15 will forever be a day our family will celebrate!

My baby brother, Bryan, was married on this day and even though I had to have last minute alterations to my bridesmaids dress...I was honored to be a part of his and Amanda's special day!
We started the morning early so we could get everyone's hair and make up done on time. Well, actually, my morning started with what I thought was the beginning of labor!! After realizing that was not the case, we all went about getting ready! I sat a lot, so as to not let gravity take its course...I REALLY wanted to be at that wedding! I managed to walk down the aisle and then sat during the readings...and didn't get back up until it was time for the groom to kiss his bride! Then we headed to the reception! I was having steady contractions by this point...but I was determined to make it as long as I could! After about an hour or so, I realized I needed to call my doctor! She told me that I needed to head to the hospital so they could at least check me. So...off we went! I was bummed to leave the reception, but excited at the same time to find out whether today would be the day we'd meet our daughter!
Luckily Johnathan's mom and sister had come to the wedding, so they packed up Carson and drove behind us to the hospital. As we were going down 285, Johnathan noticed his Mom was not behind us anymore and at that same time his sister called us to say that his mom was having car trouble and they had to get off the interstate! They told us to go on...but there was no way we were going to leave them on the side of the road! So, we turned around and went back to get them! When we got to the hospital, Johnathan dropped his sister and I off at the door and as we walked in, a lady said to me "Well...you must have gone to a fancy party today!" To which I couldn't help but respond "Well, no...I just knew I was going to have my baby, so I had to dress up!!"
I was sent up to triage and the doctor on call came in to check me. Sure enough, I was dilated to 6-7 cm and during contractions, it would go up to 8 cm! So...I was there to stay!! I was admitted to Labor and Delivery and the doctor came in to break my water...followed by the anesthesiologist with my wonderful epidural! It was about 5:30 at this point and my doctor had arrived. She said it wouldn't be long and I'd be pushing!! So I got to 10 cm around 7:00 and I started pushing around 7:20...Camden Annaleigh Sims was born at 7:27 p.m.!!!! I literally pushed about 7 times...it was so wonderful and WAY different from my experience having Carson!
Camden weighed 7 lbs, 7 oz (exactly the same as Carson!) and was 18" long! She has dark brown hair and looks a lot like Carson! We actually call her our little Eskimo baby because she seriously looks like one! She is precious and wonderful and we are so happy to finally have her here! By the time she made her debut, my Mom, sisters, brother and new sister-in-law had joined Johnathan's family at the hospital! It was awesome to have them all there! We had a lot of visitors while we were in the hospital! We also have been SO blessed to have meals made by some friends (THANKS to Michelle and Tammy!!!) and of course my Mother-in-law has been a god-send! I actually returned to class on Wednesday and Thursday this week as well...so I only missed one day of class! I know...you're all thinking I am nuts, but Nursing school is no joke and I knew I had to stay on my game in order to keep up with my school work! I actually feel pretty good and I am healing up, so I am thankful for that!
We cannot wait to introduce our little princess to you all!

Yeah...he doesn't quite get that his 4-wheeler won't work on snow!!

So, after all we've been through in the last 2+ months, we still have not gotten to meet our little lady! She is getting her beauty rest we think! We were all so sure she'd make a very early appearance, after WEEKS of heavy duty contractions and being dilated to 2 cm for 3 weeks and now dilated to 3-4 cm the last week...but she is holding out on us! We are glad we made it this far though...she is safe where she is and even though Mommy is SO very uncomfortable, I am glad we didn't have to deal with any premature issues that could have been!

The weather this week has also made us thankful that she is holding off! We cannot believe the amount of snow we are seeing and to think about getting out in this to rush to the hospital is just too stressful! We are sitting on GO, but also now hoping Camden waits until after this weekend to make her debut! Bryan and Amanda are getting married and we cannot wait to celebrate and enjoy the weekend with all our family and friends!!

We haven't meant to abandon blogging, but things have been crazy for us the last couple of months!! Here's an update to let you all know what we've been up to...

Baby News:

So, we finally decided on our little girl's name...Camden Annaleigh Sims! We just loved the name Camden and Annaleigh is a combination of mine and my mom's middle name with my dad's middle name!! So...there you have it! Camden seems to be baking away...even though we've had some minor complications over the last month or so! At our 28-week visit, I let the doctor know that I had been experiencing contractions for a a few days...nothing major, but definitely something she needed to know! So...we did an ultrasound and found out that Camden may be trying to come earlier than expected! Also, she is breach, so that's something the doctor wants to keep an eye on as well! I've been going to the doctor every 2 weeks to make sure all is well...we've got another appointment this Wednesday and they'll do another ultrasound to check on Camden! I am 32 weeks along now, so hopefully we can make it through the holidays and maybe even Bryan and Amanda's wedding before Camden makes her debut! We'll see!

School News:

My last semester in pre-Nursing is coming to an end! Wow...what a year it has been! This semester has been really hard on me, as this class (or teacher, rather!) has been pretty intense!! I will be so glad when it is over! I found out at the beginning of November that unfortunately, I did not get into the Nursing program for this coming spring semester! I was SO bummed, but I was very happy for my friend Kristin, who did get in! Well...God works in mysterious ways, because about 2 weeks later, I received a call saying a spot had opened up and I was the very next person to get in....so it was offered to me!!! SO....I am in!!!! I know it will be crazy balancing classes and study time with my little man, newborn little lady, husband, etc...but I am so excited and ready to tackle this new chapter in my life! This means, if all goes well, I will graduate from nursing school in May 2012!!!!

Other News:

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year a little differently! Mom had hip replacement surgery on Monday before Thanksgiving, so our week was spent at the hospital assisting her! She was released on Thursday morning...just in time to have a mini-feast up at Sandy's house! My sister's and I divided up the menu, and with the help of our awesome significant other's...we pulled off an amazing meal that turned into a huge feast instead of the mini-feast we thought it would be! It was wonderful to be with Mom, even though we missed our extended family this year. Mom is recovering well at Sandy's house...she'll be there all this week, but will move to my house this weekend to finish out her recouperation until the doctor clears her to drive and handle stairs at her house!

So...that's the main jist of what we've been up to! Craziness! Hopefully I can get some pictures up sometime soon...Carson is growing like a weed and we've got a lot of fun times planned this month...we'll be sure to share them with you all!

We are so excited to welcome a new niece to the family!!! Mackenzie Grace was born on Friday 10/1 at 12:27 p.m. She weighed in at 8 lbs 2 oz and was 18.5" long!! She is a beauty and we are all so thrilled! Her big sisters just love her so much already...Haylie even talks to her as if she is the Mommy...it's too cute! Congrats to Elizabeth, Nick, and big sisters Sarah and Haylie!!! We love you all!!!

Our sweet little man turned two yesterday!! We were excited to have a party here at the house to celebrate with all his friends and most of our family! We had originally planned to have the party at the playground, but for the second year now, it has rained on his special day!! So, everyone piled into our house and we decorated cupcakes, opened presents, and the kids played like crazy! While chaotic at times...we think Carson enjoyed his day and certainly loved all his presents!!

We went to the doctor this morning for his 2-year well visit and he is right on track! He is still having anxiety about going to the doctor...but this time was better than last! He received a couple shots, but that will be the last of those until he turns 4!

Life in the Sims home has been pretty crazy lately...we're getting Carson's big boy room finished up and we hope to transition him this week...fingers crossed! He seems really excited about his choo-choo room, so we are hopeful he will enjoy sleeping in his big bed! We also changed the downstairs guest room into a play room...and boy has that made a huge difference in how clean our house is...no more toys everywhere!!! Plus, now we can turn on Carson's TV and leave the living room TV off so Mommy can study!!! Work and school are crazy right now so we just take things day by day and try to keep our heads above water! We still haven't decided on a name for our little lady, but hopefully that will happen soon!

We went this past Saturday for our re-do appointment for our gender-determination sonogram! We were anxious to see if the baby would cooperate this time...and luckily SHE did! We were thrilled when the sonographer showed us the baby and was 100% sure it was a girl! We are now tackling the process of choosing a name...and what a task this is going to be! We just can't decide on one! We had a boy name picked out, and now we are even considering it for a girl name...here's a list of some of the names we like!

We're also open to suggestions!
We've also been on the hunt for bedding for both kids. We obviously have to change the nursery over to suit a girl...but I am finding that I am much more picky about choosing her bedding than I was with Carson! We are also transitioning Carson to a big-boy bed...so I am looking for full-size bedding for him...and it's really become a crazy task! To find something affordable, good-quality, and in full-size is hard to do!

We were SOOOO excited to go for our gender-determination sonogram this evening! We had decided to NOT find out tonight...but to wait until Friday to do a gender-reveal with our family. We planned to get everyone together for dinner that night and I was going to have cupcakes made with a special surprise inside to reveal the gender of our precious baby! So...going into this appointment, we knew that the baby needed to cooperate in order for everything to go as planned! Well..much to our disappointment, the baby was very modest and would not budge it's leg from it gender-hiding spot! ARGH!! So, needless to say, we won't be having our gender-reveal party and we have to go for a re-do appointment on the 21st. We just pray that the baby is feeling free and cooperative that day!!

We had our very first appointment at the OBGYN today to officially confirm that we're becoming a family of four! Yes...just a family of four is all we'll be...there's only ONE baby in there!! The visit went very well! The baby is measuring at 8.5 weeks and the heartbeat is great!! The doctor set the baby's birthdate to be January 25!

Well...we found out this week that we are expecting a bundle of joy towards the end of January!! This came as a shock to us all...but a good one, nonetheless!!!

We are still wrapping our heads around becoming a family of four, but we are so overjoyed that we had to share the news with our blogging world!

We don't see the doctor until June 16, but we will keep you posted (literally!) as things progress!

We've been very busy lately! School, work, our 3rd Anniversary, the JWR Cow Sale...the list goes on and on!! We are hoping that the month of May brings some calmer times!

Cindy is almost done with her first semester in pre-Nursing...this coming Thursday is her final exam in A&P and that's it until the summer term begins in June!

Johnathan has been working hard...as always!!

Carson is still growing like a weed..and getting smarter and cuter by the minute! His vocabulary has grown so much that we cannot even begin to list all the words he can say...of course, some of them only WE understand, but that's okay! He's become a picky eater...only wanting chicken, potatoes (french fries, mashed potatoes, tater tots...), grilled cheese, hot dogs, yogurt, jell-o, bananas, oranges, goldfish, fruit snacks, pretzels! It seems like a lot, but he used to be the type of child that would eat whatever you put in front of him! Now he won't touch veggies or other meat! His doctor says it is a phase, so we are hoping he'll learn to like those things eventually...because we sure do and it's hard to cook 2 meals each night!

We have also found out that we'll be welcoming a new niece to the family in October!! We cannot wait to meet Mackenzie Grace Mays!

Finally...warm weather!

The weather has been so crazy lately and we couldn't wait to break out Carson's new Splish Splash pool! This past Wednesday we decided it was finally warm enough! Miss Michelle brought buddy Jackson over for a play date and boy did these two toddlers have fun...despite the FREEZING water!!! This is the first toy that actually held Carson's attention for longer than 15 minutes! He is so easily distracted and always on the go! They played for about 45 minutes, then we took a lunch break but afterwards headed back out for another 30 minutes! It was so much fun for Michelle and I to watch them! The weather has turned cooler over the last few days, so we haven't been able to get out there again...but hopefully this coming week will be warmer! The only issue now will be the pollen...everything is turning that yellow/green color! ARGH!

Carson has passed the 18-month-old mark! We cannot believe how fast he is growing and that he is already this old! We went today for his 18-month check up and Dr. Saade said he is perfect...we already knew that, but its nice to have professional confirmation!

Carson now weighs 24 lbs, 10 oz (50th percentile) and is 33 inches tall (75th percentile). Dr. Saade asked a lot of questions about his development and Carson is right on track for where he should be at this age!

Carson LOVES to play outside now...hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate! He also loves Daddy's truck...he likes to drive around the neighborhood or just sit in the car and pretend to drive! We are creating a monster and are realizing how much we are going to spend in gas if this hobby keeps up! Carson vocabulary is also growing...he tries to repeat words you tell him and his favorite words are "bye-bye," "side" (for outside), Pawpaw (his favorite person!), "eat," and "Willy" (his stuffed gorilla, but the way he says it sounds like "illy"). We love to show him pictures and see how he recognizes people...he loves to point out Daddy, Nana, and Pawpaw! When we point to Mommy and say "who's that?" he sometimes says "Cindy"...great!!!

After Carson's appointment today we went to Pigtails and Crewcuts for another haircut! This time Carson wasn't so thrilled to be there...he cried the whole time! The girl who cut his hair was wonderful though and he looks so handsome! She said his hair is SO thick and that he is going to have MAJOR hair when he gets older...yippee!

We are excited for Easter this coming weekend! We are going to church with Johnathan's family, the we are heading to the Oshinski's house for a family get-together! Happy Easter to you all!

Lindsey did such a good job planning this party...there was Mickey Mouse stuff EVERYWHERE!! So...I have always had a hard time shopping for Johnathan for holidays, birthdays, etc., but we don't normally do much for each other for Valentines Day...until this year!

"Carson" gave us both amazing gifts for Valentines Day! Mommy surprised Daddy by taking Carson to have his picture made at Portrait Innovations on Wednesday. It was probably one of the most stressful and exhausting gift ideas possible...as Carson did not want to sit still for the photographer! Amazingly, we got some really good pictures of our handsome little man! We wrapped up a picture for Daddy to take to his office! We were so excited that we let Daddy open his gift that day! So...since this was sort of a great gift for Mommy too...we told Daddy not to get her anything else!

Well..."Carson" didn't listen to Mommy and somehow he convinced Daddy to buy Mommy another something special! Daddy couldn't wait to give Mommy her other gift either, so yesterday she got to open up a small package that contained the most beautiful saphire and diamond ring...saphire is Carson's birthstone! Mommy cried of course!

I feel very blessed this Valentines Day weekend...I have two very handsome and loving boys that I love so very much!

We've had some extra noise and commotion in our home this week! On Sunday afternoon, some friends and family members were leaving a Tastefully Simple party I hosted, when we noticed 2 adorable puppies running around outside our house! Auntie Liz took Carson outside to see the puppies...he just LOVES animals! We were perplexed to realize that no one was accompanying these puppies! Johnathan went door-to-door and no one claimed to be the owner of them, so we debated what to do with them! Auntie Liz wanted to take them home, but that unfortunately didn't work out...so I somehow convinced Johnathan to let them stay in our garage for the night...we couldn't just leave them out in the cold!! Soon after, we realized it was really even too cold in our garage for these tiny little guys, so amazingly I managed to convince Johnathan to let them stay in our downstairs bathroom! (For those of you who don't know, Johnathan is not very pet-friendly, even though he likes animals...he has horrible allergies!!) Our sweet neighbor went to the store and bought puppy food and the dogs camped out in our bathtub for the night! They were great...really only crying when we had to shut them in and retreat upstairs for the night! The next morning I took both puppies to the Vet to have them scanned for microchips...sure enough...no chips! This meant we had no way of knowing who they belonged to! We honestly believed that someone just came into the neighborhood and dropped them off because they didn't want them...how awful! So...this began the 3 day process of finding them both a home! Thankfully, I had lots of help through email and Facebook...and before long I was bombarded with emails from rescue groups and families who were interested in the puppies! I found a home for the black puppy on Tuesday (he was originally named Rambo by Auntie Liz, and later re-named Herschel by me). I drove out to the school where Christy works and gave Herschel to a sweet family who I know is going to love and care for him! They are going to re-name him Carter (poor guy...he's going to be so confused)! Then I drove out to Newnan on Wednesday to give the tan puppy (who was first named Rosco by Auntie Liz, then I changed his name to Bear) to a teacher who works with Matt! Luckily...they ended up liking the name Bear...so it stuck! They thought it was funny to name him Bear since he was really so small...even though my idea behind the name had to do with Alabama football!

So...our house is now quiet (well...quieter...we still have Carson!) and I really do miss the dogs! Everything worked out for the best and we are glad we were able to help the puppies find great homes! It was also a reality-check...I don't think I can handle a puppy of our own anytime soon!

Carson's sweet buddy Wesley had his first birthday party on Saturday! And oh what fun we all had!! It was a petting zoo at the JWR barn and kids were EVERYWHERE!! It was very entertaining for the adults as well...to see all these kids go crazy over the animals! By the end of the day, everyone was exhausted and Wesley had a mountain of presents...some of which Carson did try to steal...as if he doesn't have enough stuff himself!

Happy New Year to everyone!! We have just returned from a trip to Charlotte to visit Nanny and Poppop and ring in the New Year with family and friends! Although the trip's beginning was not ideal, we had an awesome time!! Santa was very good to us all this year, and we are so excited about 2010 and what is to come!!

Carson continues to grow...we'll actually go for his 15-month appointment on January 7! He is such a happy little man (most of the time!) and we are constantly amazed at all he continues to learn and accomplish!! We can really see both Mommy and Daddy in his personality...since we all know that his looks are ALL DADDY!

We were all so excited to have a surprise (mostly) trip from Bryan for the holidays! He finally got to meet our niece, and he got to hang out with Drew and Carson...and totally spoiled them all for Christmas!! We also got to meet his girlfriend, Amanda, in Charlotte...she flew down from New Hampshire to meet us ALL (seriously, she was so brave to not only meet Mom and all his sisters and families...but also his grandparents, aunt & unlcle, cousins, and more!!!). They had to drive back to CT/NH today, but we are hopefully going to see them both HERE in April!!

We had one of the busiest weekends EVER, but did manage to squeeze in a trip to see Santa at the annual Breakfast with Santa at Killian Hall, put on by the Knights of Columbus! We were skeptical as to what Carson's reaction would be this year when we plopped him down on Santa's lap...last year he was so young he didn't even wake up to realize what was going on! While we waited for Carson's turn to have his picture made, he wandered around the room, but kept making his way up to where Santa sat...he seemed to be checking Santa out and was very interested in the other kids sitting on Santa's lap! Luckily, when our turn came, we set him down on Santa's lap and we were pleasantly surprised that he LOVED Santa!!! He was mesmerized by his outfit, especially his belt, and we were able to get some good pictures!

So...our week started out with Mommy not feeling so good on Monday...just standard seasonal allergies, but no fun!!! On top of that, she had to have a colonoscopy on Tuesday morning so Monday was a rough day preparing for that...yuck! Luckily, everything went great and the doctor didn't find any polyps...colon looks good! She doesn't have to go back for another one for 5 years...yippee!!! Nana came out to keep Carson during Mommy's colonoscopy and she noticed that Carson's nose was getting stuffy. This was just the beginning! Carson progressively got more sick and we finally got him in to see the doctor on Friday!! He has a sinus infection and is taking Amoxicilin and some other OTC stuff the Dr. said was okay. He already seems to be feeling better...thank goodness! On top of that...Friday after the doctor's appointment we had a little incident here at home! Carson was up in his room and was trying to fall asleep for his nap, when he shoved his leg through the slats in the crib! Mommy went up to check on him because he doesn't normally cry when he goes down for naps! She tried to dislodge his leg...to no avail! She then began to FREAK OUT! She called Johnathan, who luckily works right across the street and he got home in record time! We still couldn't get his leg out safely, so we thought we were going to have to saw the crib apart! AHH!! Just then, Johnathan rotated Carson just the right way and his leg pushed out! HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF! There doesn't seem to be permanent damage...just a lot of shaken nerves and tears!

We are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving next week with The Sims! If we don't talk to you all beforehand, we hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!

Oh...and just to brag a little...Carson is learning so fast these days! While Nana was here on Tuesday, she taught him what a dog says and what a duck says! He also learned later this week what a sheep says! Other words he repeats...over, and over, and over are: ball, sock, what's that, who is it, all done, down, and side (for outside)! We are so proud!

We took Carson out to enjoy the fall weather at a local pumpkin lot. We loved watching him wander around and take it all in! He seemed mesmerized by all the pumpkins! We all had SO much fun at Carson's 1st Birthday party!! Even though we were sad to have had to cancel his party the weekend before...on his actual birthday, it ended up working out for the best! Everyone was feeling much better this past weekend and the weather was perfect!

Our sweet boy turned 1 on Saturday!!! Time has flown by and we cannot believe how much he has grown and changed in the last year!! We had a crazy week leading up to his birthday!! On Tuesday, Cindy came down with the flu! The doctor said it was the swine flu, but that was never officially confirmed...nevertheless, she was cooped up in her bed all week and couldn't be around Carson or Johnathan! Since the flu is so serious, we decided to cancel Carson's party, which was supposed to be here at the house on Saturday afternoon! We were so sad that we couldn't celebrate with everyone, but we knew we were doing the right thing so that no one else got sick! On Saturday, Aunt Christy, Uncle Matt, Drew and Natalie decided to come over for a mini-party! Unfortunately, the party turned bad when Carson decided to projectile vomit on Mommy twice!!! It was so awful! Our poor little birthday boy!! So, that night was spent nursing Carson's fever and making sure he didn't get sick again! He is feeling much better now and we are headed to the doctor today for his 1 year check-up! We'll have more to share later about his visit! We are excited to be preparing for his party this coming Saturday! We can't wait!!

We have just returned from another great beach vacation! This time, Johnathan was able to go! We joined Nana, Aunt Christy, Uncle Matt, Drew, Natalie, Aunt Sandy, Blaine, Aidan, Great Aunt Dana, and Wendy for a fun week in Gulf Shores! We had some pretty brutal storms while there, unfortunately our canopy was mutilated in the process, but overall the weather was decent. Carson wasn't as fond of the beach this time around, but we think it will grow on him when we aren't so worried about him eating sand! Of course, he still loves the pool, so we spent most of our time with him there! We can't wait for our next trip with Carson...not sure if it will be to the beach or somewhere else...we'll see!

9 months down the road...

Despite the title of this blog...NO...we are not expecting again!

Our sweet little man is now 9 months old!! We had his doctor's appointment today and Carson now weighs 20 lbs, 12 oz, and measures 28 inches long! He is in the 50th percentile for both his weight and height; however, his head measures in the 90th percentile!!! Wow...he's going to be SO smart!! ; )

We have gotten the go-ahead from the Doctor to introduce Carson to any foods we think he'll enjoy...so long as they won't choke him! Peanuts/peanut butter are still a no-no, but everything else is pretty much fair game! Carson actually tried mashed potatoes the other day and LOVED them...he is his father's son!!!

We are also going to try to do away with the bottle...sippy cups, here we come!! We think Carson will do well with this though because he loves to drink water from his cups already, he'll just have to get used to drinking formula that way now!

The past 9 months have been wonderful! We cannot believe Carson's first birthday is right around the corner!!

Oh...and back to the first comment of our blog, I do want to say that although we are not expecting again, we have found out in the last week or so that many of our close friends are going to have little ones soon! My good college friend Alisha is expecting her second child in March-ish, my good college friend Pam is expecting her first child in February-ish, and my sister-in-law's best friend is also expecting her first child in February-ish!!! We are so excited for them all!!

We have just returned from an awesome trip to Gulf Shores! This was Carson's first time at the beach and he loved it! We had a great time with the Sims/Kilgo side of the family...my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, 2 nieces, grandmother-in-law, aunt-in-law, and cousin-in-law! We cannot wait to plan the next girls trip...plus Carson, since he's the only boy, poor guy! We are so happy for our friends Amanda and Ben Ayres...they welcomed a beautiful baby girl to their family on Monday morning! Emmeline Elizabeth Ayres was born at 7:50 a.m., weighing in at 8 lbs, 3 oz, and measuring 21 inches long. Emme joins big sister Alivia to round out a beautiful family! So, as many of you know, we had Carson Baptized in the Catholic church back in February. But...to cover all the bases, we had him dedicated in the Baptist church yesterday. Johnathan is a member at First Baptist of Dallas, so we wanted to introduce Carson to the Baptist faith as well. We had a wonderful day, shared with family and friends! Our good friends The Rakestraw's (x2...brother's Josh & John) and The Collins' had their boys dedicated as well, so it was truly a special moment for our family!!

We have been doing a lot lately, but haven't had our camera present to record much!!! The first weekend in May was the annual JWR Cattle Sale at the Rakestraw's farm. This was our first year attending and we had a lot of fun! They had a dinner on Friday night and the cattle auction on Saturday. Mommy and Carson went to "Aunt" Amanda's baby shower on Saturday morning and missed the auction, but we loved being at the baby shower! We cannot wait for Miss Emmeline Elizabeth Ayres to be here!
This past weekend we loaded up and headed out to Gwinnett for the G-Braves game. It was SO much fun! We went with the Hauert/Beckman clan and ended up seeing the Hullinger/Peavyhouse clan there as well! We all lounged out on the Berm and the kids got to run/roll around to their delight!! On Sunday, we celebrated my first Mother's Day! We met up with my side of the family at ONE Midtown Kitchen for brunch and ate really yummy food!! Johnathan let me sleep in that morning and I also got to take a 2 hour nap that afternoon! That was the best present!!!
In other news...we are SO happy that we have found a babysitter to come to our house twice a week while I go to school. I am taking my last class for the Medical Transcription program and I cannot wait to be done!! This class requires that I go to campus, so childcare became an issue for us! We are so lucky to have found someone close by, who is so good with kids! Carson LOVES Miss Danielle!! I'll have to take a picture of them and post it!

It's amazing how much can change in a matter of 2 years!!! Today, Johnathan and I celebrate 2 years of marriage! What a wonderful day it was when we became man and wife. The weather was perfect, our friends and family were with us, and we dedicated our lives to each other. Now, exactly 2 years later, we are so happy together and we have the most beautiful son! God has truly blessed us and we look forward to MANY more years together...and growing our family...down the road!

We started off our Easter weekend with a birthday party on Saturday for Sawyer, who turned 3 on Friday. Sawyer is the son of our good friends Kristin and Rusty. We had so much fun because Sawyer's party was an Easter egg hunt! Carson couldn't eat what was in the eggs, of course, but he seemed pretty mesmerized by the other kids as he watched them scatter to find the 400 eggs hidden!!! WOW!!

Easter Sunday was great! We met Johnathan's parents for church that morning in Douglasville, then headed to Suwanee to meet up with Cindy's extended family for lunch and an Easter egg hunt. We loved spending time with the whole family! We hope you all had a Happy Easter as well!! God Bless!

This past week was pretty busy for us!!! On Tuesday we celebrated Johnathan's 28th birthday, went to see Nana at work in Gwinnett on Wednesday, had Carson's 6-month portraits done on Thursday, went to Gwinnett again on Friday (this time to see Bootsie...we cannot believe it has been 7 years that he has been gone! We miss him SO much!), then on Saturday Carson stayed with Aunt Kerstie and Uncle Chris while Mommy and Daddy helped Aunt Liz and Uncle Nick move and that night we all met the Stewart family for dinner to celebrate Matt, Mom and Johnathan's birthdays, and finally on Sunday we had a birthday celebration at the Sims' house for Johnathan!

So...the latest excitement in our home is that on Saturday morning we woke up and fed Carson breakfast, then later that morning as Mommy picked him up, she got a closer look at his mouth and sure enough...he has cut 2 bottom teeth!!!! Also...Carson's tummy-time is really paying off because he is learning to raise up on his knees and we think he'll soon be on the move! Right now, he rolls over and over everytime we put him down to play! We have his 6-month-old doctor's appointment on Friday...so we'll have more to share later this week!

Things are better in the Sims home this week. We have all recovered from our colds and Johnathan's injuries from his snow mobile accident are healing up. Now we are enjoying the warm weather...and hoping it stays this way!

The past week has been pretty crazy for us! Carson and Mommy got to spend time with cousins Drew and Natalie (and their parents!) while Daddy was on his boy's trip to West Yellowstone, Montana. We had a lot of fun, but Carson has been pretty fussy lately...we think teething is in our very near future! Mommy was ready for Daddy to get back and for things to get back to normal.

HA! Unfortunately, while riding snow mobiles in MT, Johnathan had an accident! Cindy received one of those "I'm fine, BUT..." phone calls on Saturday afternoon. Luckily, Johnathan really is fine and only suffered a wound and possible small fracture in his nose, a jammed shoulder and a possible cracked rib...it could've been much worse!! Johnathan flew home on Sunday and we are going through the motions of having him officially checked out to make sure he really is okay. On top of it all...both Mommy and Daddy are suffering from colds...and hoping we don't get Carson sick in the meantime!!!

We are so happy to welcome Natalie Jean to the family!! Our niece was born on Wednesday at 11:19 a.m. She weighed in at 6 lbs even and was 19.5 inches long! We all think she has more of her daddy in her...even though right now her eyes are blue and her hair is dark blonde! She is so tiny and cute and we are blessed again with a healthy addition to our family! Mommy, Daddy, big brother and baby are all doing great and are settling in at home tonight! We are so happy to announce that Carson officially began his faith journey this past weekend! We had him baptized at St. John Neumann on Saturday! The Baptism was extra special because Caroline Stover and Casady Leone were baptized as well! It's amazing to bring our children back to the place where we all met each other and have them grow closer to Christ together, just as we did!

Have you ever wanted to post a blog just so you could share cute pictures?? We feel like we should have some sort of grand news to share, but really there's no reason for this blog except for the simple fact that we wanted to show off some cute pictures of Carson!!!

January has flown by!! Carson continues to grow and develop in ways that are just amazing!! We had his 4-month-old doctor's appointment today...Carson now weighs 16 lbs, 5 oz and is 25 inches long...he's in the 75th percentile. He also had his second round of shots today and he did so much better this time! Our tough little man barely cried! Carson has been eating rice cereal for a couple weeks now and he is doing great! We introduced baby food by adding a little to his rice cereal and today we got the "go-ahead" from the doctor to start him on straight-up baby food...so we are excited to see how he does!

The other day Carson go to spend time with his buddy Jackson...we babysat at our house while Jackson's Mommy and Daddy had something to do. It was so much fun...both of the boys were mesmerized by each other and it was the closest feeling to twins that I have experienced...I now have a new appreciation for my Mom!!

So...we're into 2009 and Carson continues to grow! He is as big as some of his 6-month-old friends...it's crazy!! We had a holiday party this past weekend and it was a blast! Carson got to meet his new friend Casady Leone and he got see his friend Seth Kolterman again...man how the boys have grown since they saw each other back in October!!

Carson has been having a rough time lately with sleeping...so Mommy has decided to throw in the towel and try something new! Rice Cereal...here we come! The doctor said we would discuss introducing this into Carson's diet at his next appointment, but 3 weeks is an awfully long way away!! Carson has been waking up 2 times each night because he is hungry...the child just isn't getting full enough! So, we are taking matters into our own hands and we'll see how our first rice cereal meal goes this afternoon!! Wish us luck!

We are so excited about our first Christmas with Carson! Even though he is too young to know what is going on, we cannot wait for Santa to come and we are excited to see all of our family! Christmas Eve we are going to Alabama to visit daddy's extended family. Then, on Christmas day, we are dividing the day between mommy's family and daddy's family here in GA...it will be busy, but so much fun!

We got back from our trip to Baltimore, MD yesterday! Carson and I had such a good time and were sad to leave our family, but we are happy to be back home with Daddy! Carson got to meet his Great Uncle Rob, Great Aunt Cindi, and cousin Robbie! Robbie's 6th birthday is coming up, so we were there for his birthday party at Ice World...it was so much fun...and SO cold!!! Nanny and Poppop were also in town for the party, so we got to spend time with them as well! Carson did so good on the airplane...he slept about half of the way going up, and the whole way coming back home!!

We had our 2-month-old doctor's appointment today! If you have little ones...you know what this means...SHOTS!!!

Well, first we want to update you all on Carson's stats...He now weighs 13 lbs, 2 oz and is 23.5 inches long! He is in the 90th percentile for his weight and the 75th percentile for his height. The doctor said he is definitely not malnutritioned...he's the size of a 4-month-old!!

So after an exam by the doctor, the nurse came in to give the shots! Cindy immediately handed Carson off to Johnathan and we all prepared for the screams! Carson received 3 needle shots in his legs and one liquid shot...not the alcoholic kind, although it probably would have helped the little guy!! Daddy had to hold Carson down, Carson screamed bloody murder, and Mommy cried!! It was all over quickly though and he held Mommy's hand the whole way home and finally fell asleep. Thank goodness for infant Tylenol!!

We are so happy for our friends, Julia and Patrick Stover...they welcomed a baby girl into their family yesterday! Caroline Elizabeth is beautiful and we cannot wait to meet her!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This year, we are so thankful for our Carson-man and all of our family and friends...it has truly been a wonderful year for us and we are so glad to have you all to share it with!!

Now we're getting ready for Christmas! The next month is going to be hectic for us...visits with family and parties to celebrate birthdays and the holidays...we are really looking forward to it all!

We had to post this picture of Carson...his Aunt Liz took it and it really shows how adorable our son is...of course, we are biased, but we think you all will agree with us!

So...Carson has started to really respond to us...it is awesome! He loves to hear his name and play the 'fore-knocker, eye-winker' game...it's a game his Bootsy (Cindy's dad) would have loved to teach him if he was still here. Carson is developing a fun personality and it is amazing to compare pictures from 8 weeks ago to now...he's growing so fast!!

We are so excited because Carson gets to meet his Nanny and Poppop on Thursday!! They are coming in town from Charlotte for Turkey day!

From the mind of Carson...

So...my Mommy and Daddy like different football teams. This poses a problem on gameday because I have no say in which team I am going to root for. See...Daddy is happy this year because Alabama beat Georgia...so I decided to wear an Alabama shirt for him a couple weeks ago...luckily Georgia wasn't playing that day, so Mommy didn't care too much. Today though...both Mommy and Daddy's teams were playing...what was I to do??? So...since Mommy feeds me and all, I decided she wins...so I sported my Georgia gear today! The dawgs won...yippee!! Alabama is playing LSU now and they are winning 21-14...ROLL TIDE!

Okay, so we're not the best at this blog thing! Sorry! Carson is now 5 weeks old..time has flown by! We had a doctor's appointment yesterday and they said he looks great! He now weighs 10 lbs, 5 oz and is 21 3/4 inches long. He is in the 75 percentile for his weight and the 90 percentile for his head...wow! That's okay...we just think he has a big brain! We are having so much fun getting to know our little man...parenthood is awesome!!!

He's finally here! We've been meaning to update the blog, but obviously things have been busy for us the last 10 days! Carson David Sims joined our family on Friday, September 26. After a pretty hard labor, he was born at 9:17 p.m. Weighing in at 7 lbs., 7 oz. and measuring 20.5" long. He is beautiful and we are thrilled!! The last 10 days have been great...we've had a lot of visitors and lots of help and support from family and friends! We can't wait for everyone to meet our little man!

Getting Started...

So, we've decided to try out the blogging world!! To get this thing started, we thought we would give a baby update...since that is what is consuming our lives right now! Cindy is due on October 1, but as of the last doctor appointment, we know she won't make it to her due date! According to the doctor, the baby will make his grand appearance sometime in the next 7 days. Cindy is progressing with contractions and we're both just waiting for the "it's time" time to hit us! We'll be sure to post pictures and an update as soon as possible! Oh...and for those we haven't told yet, we have finally named this little guy...Carson David Sims!
